The Inspiration Behind Papa G:
Papa G Dimsum House and Restaurant is a family-owned establishment led by Papa Gov Arturo ‘Chiongkee’ Uy, whose ancestry originates from Nan’an, Quangzhou City, Fujian Province, China.
Papa Gov’s travels around the world, particularly in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Southeast Asia, inspired him to create Papa G Dimsum House. This passion project represents a dream come true, allowing him to share his culinary obsession with Oriental cuisine close to home.
As Papa G Dimsum House and Restaurant continues to explore and serve more authentic and traditional delicacies, the dedication of our founder, Papa Gov, to provide exceptional food and service continues to grow. This commitment fuels our desire for quality and excellent service for years to come.
Papa G’s Journey:
Papa G’s humble beginnings date back to the pandemic times when uncertainty gripped the world. Amidst the chaos, a determined entrepreneur, Papa Gov, saw an opportunity to bring comfort food to his community. With the help of a handful of fellow inspired individuals, he began selling frozen siomai and siopao, initially door-to-door and later through social media, quickly gaining popularity for his delicious and affordable offerings.
As demand grew, Papa G took a bold step, opening a small take-out counter on Gov. Duterte St. on the 8th of September, 2020. The spot became a hotspot for locals craving authentic Filipino-Chinese flavors.

Encouraged by the success, Papa G ventured into dine-in services, opening a cozy branch at Nova Tierra Square (now defunct). The intimate setting allowed customers to enjoy their favorite dishes in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
November 2022 marked a significant milestone for Papa G as we first entered the Tagum City market with an express counter at Quirante II. Building on the momentum, we soon upgraded to a larger location at the Uy property, affectionately known as “Alabama,” situated in Magugpo Poblacion. This strategic move allowed us to better serve our growing customer base and bring our signature dim sum and Asian-inspired dishes to the community. Our Tagum branch continues to thrive, offering a delightful dining experience for all.
Today, Papa G has evolved into a beloved food establishment, renowned for its mouth-watering dim sum, savory short orders, and exceptional service. With multiple branches across Davao City and Tagum City, Papa G continues to bring people together, serving delicious food that warms hearts and satisfies cravings.
Through perseverance and passion, Papa G’s story serves as a testament to the power of entrepreneurship and community spirit.
